Hi everyone,

I have suspected gall stones and wonder if any of you have experienced this? Apart from eating a very low fat diet I cannot find any information on what other foods to avoid in order not to aggrivate the gall bladder as I have already had 2 very painful and sleepless nights this week.

Now waiting for appointments for a scan of the abdomen, and camera investigations of stomach and bowel. Oh joy!

Hope you all have a good and painfree weekend.

Cheers

Karen

Hi Karen
I had a badly inflamed gallbladder about ten years ago. The pain was awful and it felt like I had a breeze block in my chest. At one point I was really struggling to walk as the pain was so bad. I was put on Voltarol anti inflammatories which worked really well and took most of the pain away. I was scanned and saw lots of stones on the ultrasound screen. An operation to remove the gallbladder was planned but then after a particularly nasty attack the symptoms just suddenly stopped and I've had no problems since (Maybe I passed a large stone???). I pulled out of the surgery, preferring to leave well alone. Good luck with your gall bladder issues. I hope you get relief from the pain soon X

Hi Karen
I had an ultra-sound after several episodes of severe pain and it showed 3 large gallstones. The doctors at the hospital said I could have them out. However after a chat with my wonderful GP we decided to see how things go . I have a healthy, low fat diet anyway and touch wood, since then they haven't caused any trouble. After the diagnosis I panicked into an ultra low fat diet but when I calmed down I moderated that. I mean -no alcohol because I'm on mtx and then v. low fat diet!! what else shall I give up??LOL
Hope you feel better soon
Sue
